The centre's strategic committee already comprises Lille Urban Metropolitan Community (LMCU), the regional council for Nord-Pas de Calais-Picardie, the Regional Hub for Digital Activity (PRN), competitiveness hubs, INRIA and CITC-EURAFID.

Its role includes:

  • Developing the centre's potential and to establish a base for horizon scanning of new technological evolutions;
  • Supplementing regional projects in ubiquitous computing such as U-SHOPPING, VIATIC, Urban Web Project, data security; and
  • Promoting acceptable uses for these technologies while anticipating societal and regulatory demands;

Pôle Ubiquitaire expands the scope of innovation while signalling the potential activities and skills of tomorrow.

The process includes involvement from numerous synergistic partners.

Partners fall into four thematic sub-groups:

  • Knowledge (Universities and Research Centres)
  • Support (Administration and Authorities)
  • Centres of competitiveness and excellence
  • Enterprise clusters and associations

Partners together form a scientific steering group, which meets to formulate the centre's broad scientific policy orientations.
