A regional centre that is open to the world
Alongside its academic, institutional and industrial partners, Inria is involved in large-scale research and innovation projects in the areas of Science and ICT. The Inria Lille-Nord Europe research centre offers access to leading European and international research which informs innovation processes and from which companies - particularly local enterprises - benefit.  Bolstered by this dynamism, the centre boasts an attractive international recruitment and reception policy.

What are the main scientific challenges?

Whether designing innovative software for commerce or logistics, modelling a living cell or fusion plasma, developing medical simulators or interfaces enabling human-computer interaction, our research provides new insights into current uses and facilitates a better understanding of the natural phenomena around us.
The institute's strategic plan focuses research undertaken by its Lille campus on four priority areas:

  • Internet of Data and Internet of Things
  • Software engineering for perpetual systems
  • Dynamic patient model
  • Perception-action coupling for human-computer interaction

Listening to industry
The Inria Lille-Nord Europe research centre is involved in the socio-economic development of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region at the same time as collaborating closely with large companies and SMEs. By promoting synergies between researchers and industry figures, Inria engages in the transfer of skills and expertise in digital technologies.

Inria EuraTechnologies platform: 200m² dedicated to "digital sciences"
As an industry-research ecosystem unique to Inria, the platform presents work from Inria research teams in order to promote interactions between actors from the scientific community, from the economic sphere as well as from wider society. A collaborative work space is available, with thematic projects offered throughout the year.

A culture of sharing and a friendly atmosphere

Since it was established, the Inria Lille-Nord Europe research centre has organised or participated in events aimed at the wider public in order to promote science and to provide an overview of their research projects. To reinforce this engagement, Inria, the Académie de Lille and Université Lille 1 agreed a strategic partnership. By hosting secondments, open days and tours of educational institutions, the life of the centre is marked by events in which scientists can offer insights into their knowledge.

Inria therefore seeks to promote the image of a rich, dynamic and accessible research environment in Nord-Pas-de-Calais.
